About the NMSLC
The Nevada Math and Science Leadership Cadre will develop 34 teacher-leaders (1 math and 1 science teacher from each county) who will be tasked to improve the content knowledge of science and mathematics teachers throughout Nevada. In addition to content knowledge, cadre members will become experts in state standards, benchmarks, and achievement indicators in order to assist teachers in their counties in preparing students for the mathematics and science HSPEs.
Through statewide collaboration between all Nevada counties, this cadre will provide access to and the improvement of statewide best practices in order to:
- Stimulate intellectual growth and upgrade the content knowledge and skills of mathematics and science teachers throughout Nevada;
- Help cadre members become leaders in their counties to help teachers effectively use state standards, benchmarks, achievement indicators, and item specifications; and
- Better prepare Nevada’s students for achievement in math and science.
